Biographical Information
Richard C. Vetter was Executive Secretary of the
Committee on Oceanography of the
National Academy of Sciences and
National Research Council. Before beginning that position in 1957, he was an oceanographer with the U.S.
Office of Naval Research.

Overview
The collection consists of seven scrapbooks, dating from 1958-1967, kept by Richard C. Vetter while an executive staff member of the Committee on Oceanography of the National Academy of Sciences and National Research Council.
A 2023 accrual added various books and reports that had been collected by Vetter and were donated to the library in 2023 by John Farrington.
Custodial History
Richard Vetter gave the scrapbooks to John W. Farrington after Vetter's retirement in the early 1990s. Farrington kept the scrapbooks until donating them to the Archives in 2005.
Acquisitions Information
The scrapbooks were received from John W. Farrington in December 2005 as acc.2005-54.
