The Wilfred B. Bryan papers consist of photographs, 16mm film, data and analysis relating to Bryan's work in volcanology and igneous petrology between 1952-1990. The collection also contains significant data on basalt glass in the San Benedicto Island region.

Biographical Information
Wilfred Bottrill Bryan was born on February 18, 1932. He received a B.A in Geology from Dartmouth College in 1954, an M.A. (1956) and Ph.D. (1959) in Geology from the University of Wisconsin. He was appointed as an associate scientist on the WHOI staff in 1970 where he focused his research on volcanology, igneous petrology and planetary geology.
