Scope and Content Note

The Nelson G. Hogg Papers span the years of 1940-2002, with the bulk dating from 1972-2002. A large part of the collection is correspondence concerning Hogg's work with NIO, World Ocean Circulation Experiment (WOCE), and the Deep Basin Experiment (DBE), as well as correspondence concerning the development, nomination, and presentation of the inaugural Henry Stommel Medal to John Swallow. Also included are a variety of cruise logs and datasheets, publications, and a rough draft of Henry Stommel's The Sea of the Beholder. The papers were received by the WHOI Data Library and Archives from Nelson G. Hogg in 2006.
