Scope and Content Note

The Legacy Data Collection consists of scientific data collected on WHOI and non-WHOI vessels from 1936 to 2004. The collection contains many different types of data, including echo sounding records, seismic profile data, acoustic profiles, navigation logs, bathymetry data, and magnetometer data. The data is all in paper format, including many oversized paper rolls.

The Legacy Data Collection was created between the years 1936 and 2004 during various cruises of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution vessels, as well as vessels from other institutions used by WHOI scientists.

The data was organized by ship and cruise number, and was entered into a database by Colleen Hurter. Sonja Drotar used the information in the database to create this finding aid in August 2015.
