Scope and Content Note

The WHOI History Colloquy consisted of a series of public discussions from July 15-19, 1991 with approximately 60 people who were involved with the Institution from the 1930s to the mid-1950s, with a concentration on the World War II years. Discussions revolved around research and development during the war years, research funding, changes in the Institution, changes in support for science, and how results of scientific research and technological developments were transferred out of the Institution.
