Ships, 1930-1940

 Series

Scope and Content Note

This series contains correspondence, ship designs, cruise charts, telegrams, newspaper clippings, brochures and photographs. There is correspondence with the design firm of Owen and Minot regarding the design, costs, outfitting and maintenance of Atlantis during her first year of service, as well as correspondence from acting Master Clowser about the Equatorial Cruise of 1932 (box 4, ff.1-3). Note that a file called "WHOI correspondence: Bigelow/Minot/Atlantis construction, 1930-1933" which is filed in the Administrative series, would fit equally well in this series (box 1, f.1).
