Scope and Content Note
This series spans the years 1952 to 1971 and consists of files on people. Materials include correspondence, photographs, brochures, reports and newspaper articles. The series includes letters and a cruise track sent from Val Worthington to Iselin concerning work aboard Crawford and Discovery II in 1957 during the IGY, with mention of George Deacon and Swallow (box 24, f.12). There are files on Vice-President Hubert Humphrey, who visited Woods Hole and went on a cruise aboard Atlantis II in 1967 in his capacity as chairman of the National Council for Marine Resources and Ocean Engineering (box 55, ff. 40-41). The records also contain information about Edwin Link’s development of his Deep Diver/Sea Diver program in 1967 and 1968 (box 60 f.41).
