Historical Instrument collection
Scope and Content Note
This collection includes scientific instruments and equipment and instrument manuals, catalogs, and other material that are being maintained in conjunction with the collection of oceanographic instruments and equipment presently stored in the Falmouth Technology Park offsite storage facility.
Also included in the collection are a video and photographs of a traveling exhibit by the U.S. Navy on historical oceanographic instruments, The Briny Deep Discovered, that included a number of instruments loaned to the Navy by WHOI. The exhibit made its final stop at WHOI to coincide with the Institution's 75th Anniversary, and was located in the lobby of the Clark building.

Custodial History
The custodial history is unknown since the material was received in multiple accessions.
Acquisitions Information
Acquired in various accessions. See accessions database and individual series descriptions for more information. The DVD and Hi-8 videos in the Historical Instrument Exhibit series were transferred to the Archives in March 2009.
Processing Information
Processed in 2003 and 2010. Oversized Design Drawings series first-level processing completed by Werner Deuser in November 2014.
