Flight Safety Foundation, 1948-1961

 Series

Scope and Content Note

The Flight Safety Foundation (FSF) was formed in 1947 to initiate projects and develop products that would improve aviation safety. Frederick Pingree was involved in the organization from its beginning (see the letter to Stephen C. Howard in series 1 for Pingree's description of his involvement with the FSF). The series includes newsletters, articles, and indexes published by the FSF, as well as other material relating to the work of the FSF, including a research program and seminar presentations. Some of the newsletters include the Accident Prevention Bulletin, Air Safety Digest, Business Pilots Safety Bulletin, and Pilots Safety Exchange Bulletin.
