Biographical Information
Andrew Conrad Neumann was born in Oak’s Bluff, Massachusetts on December 21, 1933. He graduated from Brooklyn College with a degree in Geology in 1955. He went on to study at the University of Texas attaining a M.S. in Geological Oceanography in 1958 and completed his education at Lehigh University in 1963 with a Ph.D. in Geology.
Neumann worked at WHOI from 1958-1960 as a Research Assistant, then Research Associate in Sedimentary Geology. His work included hydrographic survey studies of the Red Sea and he assisted in several other hydrographic programs in South and Central America as well as in the Mediterranean Sea and Indian Ocean.
