On the reel from September 7, 1951 there is a note which reads, "copy sent to Miss R Carson," probably Rachel Carson who was in Woods Hole during this time. The two reels from September 1951 have notes stating some recordings taken from "disc recordings by G Duys." The reel from January 1953 is described as a revised collection, with new commentary by Hersey.
