60th and 70th birthday celebrations, 1980, 1990

This series contains materials dating from the 1950’s through 1997. It includes Henry Stommel’s passports and daily calendars for the years 1962, 1963, 1966, 1967, 1970, 1971, 1973, 1974, (l undated); his Curriculum Vitae, and information about a sabbatical year (l974-1977). It also includes medals and awards, arranged alphabetically, and honorary invitations. There are four folders of designs he created including letterhead and drawings, cartoons and poems, and a family newsletter. There is background information for and a draft of the Biographical Memoir written by Carl Wunsch for the National Academy of Science, including an interview with Elizabeth Stommel and correspondence with Anne Stommel (his sister). Also included are notes relating to Henry Stommel’s early years in Woods Hole by Professor R.B. Montgomery, and the Bulletin interview of September 20, 1990.
