Correspondence, 1947-1992

This series is comprised of 30 folders of incoming and outgoing correspondence. The series covers the years 1949 to 1954 and 1960 to 1992, although there is no correspondence from l955 to 1960. The bulk is for the years 1971 to 1992. See the collection scope and content note for an index to the correspondents represented in the series. Folders for both l960 and l961 have many letters relating to WHOI's reorganization and concerns of the staff scientists about this. One folder, dated 1966-1987 contains equipment requisitions, and another dated 1990-1991 concerns the WHOI Library Committee.
