Historical Note
R/V Thomas G. Thompson (T-AGOR-23) is a research vessel owned by the United States Navy and operated under a Charter Party Agreement by the University of Washington as part of the University-National Oceanographic Laboratory System (UNOLS) fleet. Constructed by Halter Marine, it was delivered to the Office of Naval Research 8 July 1991.
The Thomas G. Thompson and three other research ships were all built to the same basic design. The three sister ships are NOAAS Ronald H. Brown (NOAA), R/V Roger Revelle (Scripps) and R/V Atlantis (Woods Hole).
