Scope and Content Note

The Foreign Clearance Files series contains information on receiving clearances, generally through the U.S. Department of State, from foreign governments to conduct research in the territorial waters of those countries. The files also deal with the requirements of supplying data from the cruises both to the State Department and to the governments of the countries in which the data was collected.
