Content Description

One booklet of pressed wildflowers. Booklet is 12.5 x 15.5 cms; cover is textured brown paper with gilt lettering "Wild Flowers". Six leaves are folded once and stitch-bound with narrow cording. Pressed flowers include: fleur de lis (iris vesicolor), common dandelion (taraxacum officianale), lance-leaved violet (viola lanceolata), wild columbine (aquilegia canadensis), star flower (trientalis americana), tall crowfoot (ranunculus acris), bluets quaker ladies (houstonia caerulea), ox-eyed daisy (chrysanthemum lencanthemum), rock rose (helianthemum canadense), and blue-eyed grass (sisyrinchium augustifolium).

Received in the archives from Jackie Webster on 2023-05-09. Webster received it from Colleen Hurter of the Woods Hole Historical Museum. Ellen F. Crocker may have been an amateur botanist from Barnstable in the mid-1800s. Other provenance data is unrecorded.
